The Common Man

by Shameless Strangers

The king and the queen
Rule over the land
They want nothing more than for their daughter than for her to marry a noble man

But the princess disagrees
And she has a plan
To marry her lover
A common man

In walks the princess
Whom her subjects adore
Her long flowing hair nearly reaches the floor

A man in the crowd
Gives her a wink
She bashfully smiles as her face turns pink

And next come the princes
Identical twins
They constantly argue but yet neither one ever wins

And in walks the queen
With her nose in the air
She's cruel to her subjects but they don't seem to care

And now comes the king
Wearing velvet and jewels
His subjects are loyal and they follow all the rules

And in come the jesters
With their flips, tricks and rolls
They are followed by a man with a sword and a scroll

He bows to his king
And hands him these things
The kings raises the sword in the air and begins to sing

"Good evening all my subjects of the royal court
Tomorrow we'll be hunting foxes just for sport
And he who catches the most foxes in this room receives the royal prize of forty gold dablunes.
And he who kills the fox with the softest fur gets to take the princess and marry her"

The princess knows that her lover will win
For she decides the fox with the softest skin?
If everything goes according to plan, the princess will marry her common man
