Our Faith From the old Temple of Wotan for Kids site Heathens are those who follow the ancient Germanic religion. These would include Asatru, Odinism, Wotansim, the Northern Way, Heithni, the Northern Path, Vanatru, and other very similar spiritual paths. We are not New Agers, Wiccans or general pagans. Heathen spirituality is focused on the earth and its seasons and the forces and rhythms of nature and human beings. Its roots are in the ancient pre-Christian indigenous religions of Europe. Heathen festivals include the solar and lunar cycles. Heathens see divinity in all living things and see divinity as being both male and female. All of life is perceived as sacred and interconnected. Nature is an important spiritual teacher to Heathens. Modern Heathen practice is a creative and dynamic force. Spiritual insight is achieved through living in harmony with the earth. Heathens do not follow a particular sacred text, but do follow the Nine Noble Virtues, a set of rules governing behavior. Heathens who practice a priest or priestesshood (Godhar & Gydhjar) go through years of practice and life-changing rituals. Godhar and Gydhjar are respected as teachers helping others to experience the sacred mystery that gives life true meaning. Heathens believe all are capable of achieving this goal. A note from Janean: Every effort has been made to contact and credit the sources of the material presented on this site. This is not a money-making site. It made it for my own personal enjoyment and, I hope, yours. Special thanks to Nana Goat (Heidi Graw) for sharing her collection of stories and poems. Borrowed some from Wolfie's Asatru Kids Stuff and Jordsvin's Norse Heathen Pages Some came from old The Temple of Wotan for Kids which is now closed. This website is not affiliated with any organization or anyone but me. In cases where the source is unknown or no contact information was given, we hope that you will be willing to share. If you see your work here without proper credit, or would like something removed, please contact Janean at Neaner Web Design. Oh, and the Magni and Modi characters are Copyright © 2004 by William Scheifley. That's my brother. His band Shameless Strangers is going on tour next year, so if you get the chance, check them out!
